Atrium Health and Novant Health both describe virtual menopause care connected to a larger health system. If you are comparing them, the useful questions concern the clinician you can see, your location, your insurance and what happens if remote care is not enough.
We checked both official service pages on September 21, 2026. This is a comparison of documented care pathways, not a hospital-quality ranking. Neither page supplies a universally applicable, medication-inclusive price that would support declaring one the cheaper HRT program.
One page states the location rule more explicitly
Atrium says patients must be physically in North Carolina during virtual menopause visits. Its FAQ also says existing patient status is not required. Those are useful booking details, but the clinic still needs to assess individual eligibility.
Novant describes its virtual service without publishing a complete patient-state list on the reviewed page. Confirm where its clinician can see you rather than assuming the same boundary as Atrium or nationwide access. Our North Carolina shortlist includes both with those limits visible.
Both describe menopause-focused clinical care
Atrium identifies its team as Menopause Society Certified Practitioners. Novant also describes certified menopause practitioners and lists individual clinicians. Training focus is relevant, but a provider biography cannot tell you which appointment is available or establish superior outcomes.
Ask who conducts the first visit and how continuity works afterward. If remaining with the same clinician matters to you, confirm that preference before booking. We did not test wait times or communication performance at either system.
Coordination may be part of the appeal
Both services describe connections with other care when needed. Novant explicitly discusses arranging labs, imaging, examinations and specialty services. Atrium describes working with current providers and access to its wider women's care network.
For either service, ask who arranges a referral, how results return and whether an outside primary-care clinician can receive the plan. A health-system connection does not guarantee that every facility is in-network for your insurance or that a referral happens immediately.
Get the estimate for the actual appointment
Atrium describes OB/GYN-style billing and self-pay access. Novant says virtual appointments are generally billed like in-person visits and that many plans cover them. Neither statement establishes your copay, deductible or final out-of-pocket amount.

HRT is an option, not a predetermined outcome
Both pages include hormone therapy within broader menopause care. Neither reviewed service description provides an exhaustive medication formulary. Do not assume a specific patch, compounded cream or pharmacy arrangement will be available without discussing it.

A useful decision checklist
Settle location eligibility first, then compare actual appointment availability, personal coverage and the plan for follow-up. Bring your existing records and ask how information will move between clinicians. The video-care shortlist adds other models if neither health-system pathway fits. The public evidence supports comparing these practical arrangements, not naming a universal medical winner.
